  • Product Description

DAVO EB-type powder coating is a thermosetting, pure epoxy powder coating specifically designed for the three-layer PE anti-corrosion system used on pipelines. It can be combined with an intermediate adhesive and an outer layer of high-density polyethylene to form an outstandingly performing anti-corrosion system. The epoxy powder primer boasts excellent adhesion and resistance to cathodic disbonding, while the outer polyethylene layer offers superior mechanical properties, water resistance, and weather resistance. The intermediate adhesive layer organically bonds the powder coating layer and the polyethylene layer together. As a whole, this anti-corrosion system integrates the advantages of both epoxy coatings and polyethylene layers, making it a highly popular anti-corrosion technology.

    Storage conditions

In an environment with a temperature below 30℃ and relative humidity below 60%, the shelf life is 6 months. If the shelf life exceeds 6 months, the product must undergo re-inspection before it can be used.

    Powder curing requirements

    1. Remove surface oil, rust, other loose deposits, moisture, and the like.

    2. Perform sandblasting or shot blasting to reach Sa2.5 grade, with an anchor pattern depth of 50–90 μm. Remove dust from the surface until it reaches a near-white finish. Pay attention to evenly adding both new and old abrasive materials to maintain a stable mix ratio.

    3. Clean the pipe surface.

    4. Preheat the workpiece, generally controlling the temperature between 180 and 220℃.

    5. Apply EB powder coating to the pipe surface using electrostatic spraying, with a coating thickness of 60–150 μm.

    6. Apply the hot-melt adhesive onto the epoxy powder coating at a temperature close to its melting point, with a minimum thickness of 200 μm.

    7. Extrude the polyethylene surface layer at its melting point temperature (approximately 240℃), wrap it around the intermediate adhesive layer, and use a pressure roller to compact the three layers thoroughly, preventing air bubbles from forming between the layers.

    8. Coating cooling.

    9. Repair the leak.

    Curing Instructions

    1. EB powder coating is applied to preheated workpieces and then cured according to spraying requirements to achieve optimal performance.

    2. The intermediate adhesive layer must be applied before the powder adhesive melts, so that the two layers can fuse into one.

    3. The intermediate adhesive layer and the outer PE layer, which have higher temperatures, can ensure powder curing.

    4. Curing temperature: 180℃ for 5 min, 205℃ for 3 min
